The lotus effect, also known as superhydrophobicity, is exhibited by the lotus leaf and certain other plants, as well as by some insects. One example of an insect that has the lotus effect is the water strider. These insects have hydrophobic hairs on their legs that allow them to walk on water and repel water from their bodies, similar to the way lotus leaves repel water. This adaptation helps them to stay dry and avoid sinking in water. **

There are a few potential issues that could be affecting your tiger lotus. It could be suffering from nutrient deficiencies, such as a lack of iron or potassium, which can cause yellowing or holes in the leaves. Another possibility is that the plant is not receiving enough light, as tiger lotus plants require high levels of light to thrive. Additionally, if the water quality is poor or the tank is overcrowded, this can also negatively impact the health of the tiger lotus. It's important to assess these factors and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the plant's well-being. **
